DEAD BROKE:
Just finished reading Dead Broke. A very enjoyable book. Great plot and story line. Didn’t know who the murder was until Linda revealed it. Kept me on my toes. Also, was nice to read nice clean book without bad language and sexual content. – KathyB
Loved the main character and can’t wait for her next mystery! – Rebecca S. Tiedt
Fulkerson’s debut novel is a sure-fire win. The cast of characters ranging from photographer Andrea “Andy” Warren to her troubled brother Tommy and her best friend Constance set the stage for a satisfying series. When Tommy lands in jail for a murder he didn’t commit, Andy must decide whether to help him or turn her back and walk away. Once she makes up her mind to search for the real killer, Andy is as cool-headed as Chandler’s Philip Marlowe and as persistent as Christie’s Miss Marple. If you enjoy who-dun-it mysteries, you’re sure to enjoy Dead Broke. And I promise you, you’ll be with me waiting for the next book in Fulkerson’s Crooner’s Corner mystery series. – Suzy J.
I really enjoyed reading “Dead Broke”, it was a very easy read. Andy is a positive role-model, who shows the audience her struggle with life and God. She is spunky, but tender; the kind of woman you would want for a friend. The mystery is well thought out and develops in an interesting way. The background line is realistic in a way that you can picture it in your head. You might even find yourself wanting to move into this beautiful, quiet southern community and you will surely want to drop by for some sweet tea by the end of the book. – Melissa K.
Dead Broke is a great cozy mystery. If you’ve ever been to or lived in a small country town, you will recognize the town in this story. It will make you get mad and laugh at the same time. At times you will feel sympathetic and at times not. Stories like this are always fun to read. Add to that a plot that is good. You think you have it figured out, but then….. I hope we see the main character, Andy, in many more books in this series. Enjoy… – C. Burleson
I got a digital preview copy of the book for review and promotion purposes (and bought the paperback today). This book kept me in suspense and chuckling from beginning to end. The author is witty and engaging while weaving a classic whodunit with enough twists and turns it is not obvious what the outcome will be. Will reread at least once while waiting patiently for the next book just so I can memorize some of her catchy phrases. – Amazon Customer
If you love a good mystery, this is the book for you!! This was a real page turner for me. I kept wanting to find out what was going to happen to Andy next. This book will keep you guessing as to who the murderer might be until the very end!! Linda does a very good job of helping you picture everything that is going on. Cannot wait for the next book in the series!!!! – Paula Sayers
This mystery has a touch of romance, a cast of interesting characters, and a Southern town where your business is not your own. The author writes a page-turner with a knack for humor that kept me chuckling as a murder investigation takes place. The story kept my interest through the last page. Good characterizations and settings descriptions. – Jo Huddleston
Coloring Books for Writers (Volume I):
I’ve really enjoyed this book. The coloring designs range from simple to pretty intricate, and the activities and quests are helpful in getting the creative juices flowing. I also like the paper this is printed on. I use markers for coloring, and this paper doesn’t bleed like some of the other coloring/activity books that I have. – Jeri Ledford
Love the writing prompts and quotes! Nice way to encourage writers. – Amazon Customer
Bought this for a gift basket at a writing symposium. A great aid for jump-starting your next novel! – Susan Ortiz
I just did the first “project” in this book, and it did open up my mind. I’m a busy nonprofit leader and journalist, while also working on my plays and web shows. I’ve had stress-related creative blockage for months on end, and this relaxed me and opened my mind to the point I outlined a good portion of the first act of a play for an important competition. I am not a natural visual artist or “colorer” and I wondered if I was doing it right at first, then I sank into it and it was amazing. Can’t wait for next time. – Amy Peterson
The Prodigal Daughter
This is an excellent book to share with those who feel like they have reached bottom but want to change their life. It is full of self help using biblical principles that encourage spiritual growth in anyone. The author’s story is also inspiring for parents of children who have gone astray. – The Book Assessor
Great Book that not only tells about the authors personal experience but also has section for helping others work their way back into a relationship with God and also their family. Very good book, easy to read, surprising in places and quit revealing not only of authors actions but also her most inner feelings. Recommended read for anyone that wants to get back into a god relationship with their heavenly Father or their earthly family. – Wendy
How do you put in words the most powerful book besides the Bible? Like I said, it was exactly what it was exactly what I needed. – Terry Jolley
This book is very relevant for those who have removed themselves from their families and friends for whatever reason, but is also relevant for those who are waiting for loved ones to return to the fellowship of families who love them. I especially liked the first person writing style because I personnaly know Linda Fulkerson. It was as if she were speaking to me. Linda lived on the same street as I did when she was growing up with her brothers. Her mother and I worked in my mother’s office together. It has been many years since I have heard from her family. Many things have happened in my family…I have a prodigal son who has returned to us after a period of estrangement. Her words, “you can go back home”, are an encouragement to anyone going through these circumstances. Great job, Linda! – Glenda Bryan
